Remembering Raymond

Raymond Lee, 79, of San Francisco, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 1st, 2022. Born in San Francisco, California on November 24, 1942, to the late Sing Foon Lee and Thut Ting Chin, Raymond was an adventurous, caring, and supportive husband and father.

In the 1960’s, Raymond attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah where he also learned to cook. He graduated with a bachelor’s in chemistry and moved back to San Francisco where he began working at East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD). Aside from working, he was also deeply involved in community service. He volunteered at the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown, served as a chairperson at the Mei Lun Yuen Housing Project, and was a board member on the Board of Directors at Cameron House.

Raymond and Cecilia married in 1972 and enjoyed 49 years of marriage together. They had four sons and one daughter. He was a dedicated husband and father and would always put his family first. His patience, knowledge, and guidance helped shape his children to who they are today. His children went on to pursue careers in the military, engineering, web development, culinary event operations, and finance.

After over 30 years at EBMUD as a managing chemist, he retired to pursue his real passion of traveling and escorting tours with his wife. Later, they opened their own company, Majestic Charter, where he became a tour bus driver.

Raymond's hobbies were fishing and photography. He would bring his kids on fishing trips and take photos of his kids holding all the fish caught that day. A passionate jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, he enjoyed solving them with his children and grandchildren.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Cecilia (Chen) Lee of San Francisco, California, his four sons, Larry and wife Rebecca, Ernest and wife Theresa, Christopher and wife Cindy, Alex and wife Patti, and daughter Angela and her husband Ronan Lyall.

He was preceded in death by brothers Henry Lee, Walter Lee, and sister Mary Jang. He is also survived by sister-in-laws Shui Wan Lee and Claire Lee; and by his siblings, sister Ellen and husband Daniel Gee, brother Philip and wife Dorothy Lee, and brother Frank and wife Kimberly Lee; along with many nephews and nieces.

He will be missed dearly by his grandchildren Alyssa, Jared, Jonah, Joshua, Logan, Lucas, Ryan, Taylor, and Trista.
